We have 400 users

Premise: Traffic doubled. The product now has 400 monthly active users.

  1. Sam: “We should establish the platform before growth accelerates.” GitOps, autoscaling, managed Kubernetes, service mesh.
  2. Riley: “I upgraded the VPS.” CPU utilization returns to 9%.
  3. Six months later: The VPS is now business-critical. Riley adds a second VPS, health checks, failover and configuration sync.
  4. Sam: “That’s adorable.” Riley has manually rediscovered a small orchestration platform.

Observed behavior: Every abstraction is unnecessary until the day you implement it badly yourself.

Cast: Sam Okafor — The Platform Builder — “Teams need a paved road.”; Riley Novak — The Minimalist — “Postgres, HTTP, cron.”
