Should we open source it?

Should we open source it?“Push it public tonight. We'll see who shows up.”Jo Ramirez, The Cowboy

💡 WHY JO IS RIGHT

Nobody knows whether outsiders want this tool, and no amount of internal debate will tell us. Making a repository public takes one click, costs nothing, and produces real signal within days: stars, forks, issues, a pull request from someone in another timezone. If nobody shows up, nothing was lost but an afternoon. If people do, the company learns something a planning meeting never could. Polish is easier to justify once there is an audience.

✅ RIGHT WHEN

The code is small, clean of secrets, and nobody is harmed if it stays rough.

🚩 TOO FAR WHEN

The repo went public with the staging database password in a test fixture.
