Which license should we pick?

Which license should we pick?“MIT. I already clicked it in the GitHub dropdown.”Jo Ramirez, The Cowboy

💡 WHY JO IS RIGHT

For most small projects the license matters less than the time spent deliberating it. MIT is short, understood everywhere, accepted by nearly every corporate legal team, and asks almost nothing of users beyond keeping the notice. It lets people adopt the code today without a meeting. If the project ever becomes strategic, that is a good problem, and the team will have far more information then than it has now.

✅ RIGHT WHEN

The project is small, not a business, and adoption matters more than control.

🚩 TOO FAR WHEN

The repo is the company's core product and a competitor is already hosting it.
